Protection From Harm, Shelter From Danger
Safety where there is none…
3 The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. 7 The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him 2 The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines. ~nahum 1:3,7; 2:2~
chapter 1 verse 3, He is slow to anger though does still punish you when deserved. this one is far easier to accept when the punishment comes because you knew what you did was wrong. chapter 1 verse 7, a fortress/haven we can run to when distress because we trust in Him. chapter 2 verse 2, He reinstates that which was dismantled.
as a former bad person who deserved nothing less than being removed from the face of the earth, i am still awestruck at how our Heavenly Father can love on me so much as to offer redemption and freedom rather than death, a safe haven instead of the streets, love and not retribution.
it’s the knowing we got something we didn’t deserve, a reminder of the merciful God we serve, a Heavenly Father who loves His children even when we fail to do the same back, that drives me to not keep working not to disobey and disappoint Him. to run towards and not away from Him even when i slip up and make mistakes. as pastors ross and pat shared, God delights in us when in need we come to Him first, not last.
Father God, thank you that we are a safe place we can run to when we are in trouble or when the enemy is coming, attacking us. i find safety in your loving arms and are comforted knowing nothing came get through your defense. i love you, we love you, in Jesus’ Holy and Precious Name i pray, amen!
